Our History

Rape and Abuse Support was set up in 1993 as Aberdeen Rape Crisis. The service was provided by a small group of volunteers who were responsible for the running of the whole organization.

In 2005 our hard work was recognized by the Scottish Executive and we were able to employ staff. We are also funded by Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council.

Rape and Abuse Support is a registered charity that provides a comprehensive service including support and information on legal and medical issues arising from rape or sexual violence and its effects on survivors. We also provide information, training and support to health professionals and external agencies.

All our centres are run by women for women.
